South Korea delays corporate crypto investment rollout for nearly a year
South Korea’s Financial Services Commission has delayed the rollout of cryptocurrency investment by listed companies for nearly a year, despite previously stating it would allow the move in the second half of last year. The parliamentary audit did not meaningfully review this issue, as major policy matters like enacting a basic digital asset law and establishing a regulatory framework for stablecoins took precedence over verifying the implementation of announced financial policies. There are increasing calls for financial authorities to clarify the reasons for the delay and provide a timeline for implementation, as corporate investment can be pursued through follow-up regulatory steps, unlike a basic law that requires National Assembly legislation.
