U.S. has BTC demand of 0.96, the rest of the world prefers stablecoins at 1.00
The demand for bitcoin in the U.S. reached 0.96, while in the rest of the world it was 0.52, according to Chainalysis' Geography of Crypto 2026 report. This difference is due to Americans having access to the dollar, while other users turn to stablecoins without needing a bank account in the U.S. Transfers below $10,000 showed net outflows of bitcoin from the U.S., while transactions over $10 million accumulated inflows of 53,200 BTC. Will Su from BlackRock highlighted the interest in bitcoin as a monetary alternative in the context of rising global debt. In contrast, the stablecoin demand index was 1.00 in the rest of the world and 0.56 in the U.S. Dollar-pegged tokens represent 99.1% of the stablecoin volume, while those backed by euros only account for 0.45%. The expansion of stablecoins could increase the demand for U.S. Treasury bonds. Chainalysis warns that institutional accumulation of bitcoin may change according to market conditions.
