The 3% cashback in Bitcoin with Square could reward purchases
According to reports from October 13, 2026, those using the Square Credit Card could receive a 3% cashback in Bitcoin on purchases. Block Inc. is thus promoting Bitcoin in everyday payments.
Key Points
- The Square Credit Card is set to add a 3% Bitcoin reward.
- Currently, cashback rates vary for Bill Pay and other expenses.
- The separate Bitcoin promotion of Cash App has a cap of $30 per month.
This was reported by Crypto Briefing. The option would come after the card's redesign in August 2026 and after the rollout of Bitcoin tools in Block's payment services. Cardholders would have an additional way to receive rewards, besides cash redemptions.
The 3% cashback in Bitcoin with Square comes after the card's redesign
The new reward would be paid in Bitcoin at a reported rate of 3% on purchases. The card, which operates on the American Express network, already offers cashback in cash with the revised structure.
Since August 2026, cardholders receive an unlimited 3% cashback with Square Bill Pay, while the rate for other expenses is 1.5%. The reward can be redeemed as a cash deposit, as a credit on the statement, or as fee-free payment processing.
According to the report, the Bitcoin reward would help distinguish the card in the market. It would allow small business owners to accumulate Bitcoin with everyday expenses, including supplier invoices.
Block's Bitcoin integration combines tools for merchants and incentives for customers
The project by Block, led by co-founder Jack Dorsey, goes beyond card rewards: it touches on acceptance in stores, sales conversion, and spending with Cash App. Bitcoin features were introduced throughout 2025 and 2026.
Tools to accept Bitcoin started at the end of 2025 and have reached millions of merchants. Bitcoin payments have zero fees throughout 2026. Merchants can also automatically convert a portion of their card sales into Bitcoin.
Cash App then offers users 5% cashback in Bitcoin on purchases at Square merchants. This promotion has a cap of $30 per month and is valid until December 31, 2026.

Reward conditions and variable value of Bitcoin
Block has not yet published the complete conditions for the Bitcoin reward: access requirements, payment times, and delivery methods are missing. The report does not establish that the 3% cashback in Bitcoin with Square will follow the same rules as cash rates.
A Bitcoin reward can also change value in dollars. As noted in the report, the amount can be worth more or less depending on the price of Bitcoin and the time the holder redeems or holds it.
The two active Bitcoin incentives have specific deadlines: payments for merchants remain fee-free throughout 2026, while the 5% Cash App promotion ends on December 31, 2026.
