Kevin O'Leary Defines Stablecoins as the Safest Crypto Assets
Kevin O'Leary evaluated stablecoins as the safest area among crypto assets. He noted that Bitcoin carries higher volatility and stands as a separate category as a speculative asset. O'Leary expressed that the GENIUS Act introduced in the U.S. subjects these assets to clearer regulations. This law will come into effect in 2025 and will require issuers to maintain reserves consisting of suitable liquid assets. However, it was emphasized that stablecoins are not completely risk-free, and the perception of security depends on the nature of the reserves and the structure of the issuer. It was pointed out that Bitcoin carries more risk and has sharper price movements. O'Leary stated that institutional adoption has not yet gained momentum due to regulatory uncertainties. For Ethereum and other tokens, he expressed that focusing on technological use cases will be decisive for real use and institutional adoption in the future. O'Leary's assessment reveals that a uniform risk assessment in the crypto market is inadequate.
