The Cysic cross-chain bridge was attacked on October 17, with hackers unauthorizedly minting 10 million CYS on the BNB Chain. The hackers gained access to the database related to the cross-chain service and exploited a processing logic vulnerability to submit false minting messages. Cysic has suspended cross-chain bridge services and implemented on-chain blacklist restrictions on the involved addresses, with approximately 2.8 million CYS remaining in that address and unable to be transferred out. The incident was limited to the message processing and minting functions of the cross-chain bridge, and did not affect the Cysic mainnet, nor did it lead to the theft of existing assets in user wallets. The team has hired a professional security company to investigate the attack path and trace the flow of funds.
